Dr. Terry D’Elisa
Psychotherapy: My philosophy is that everyone can benefit from increasing their skills in managing personal and interpersonal challenges. Through individual psychotherapy and support/educational groups, I work with my clients to help them develop the skills they need to improve their relationships and their ability to cope with stress. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques based on client needs. I work with children, adolescents and adults.
Psychological Testing: I provide comprehensive evaluations for children and adults for a variety of concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Attention/Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Executive Functioning difficulties.
Terry D’Elisa, PsyD, ABPP, NCSP is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) with a doctoral degree in School Psychology. Dr. D’Elisa completed her doctoral degree with concentrations in School Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is Board Certified in School Psychology. While at PCOM, Dr. D’Elisa studied under Dr. George McCloskey, a renowned expert on ADHD and Executive Functioning. Prior to obtaining her doctorate, Dr. D’Elisa completed her school psychology training at Fairfield University. She then joined the faculty at both urban and suburban school districts providing psychological services to students ranging from pre-school through post high school. Dr. D’Elisa furthered her pre-doctoral training working with children and and adults on the Autism Spectrum. With her extensive training in school neuropsychology, Dr. D’Elisa’s practice specializes in psychological assessment to provide the necessary data to inform educational decisions and increase self-awareness. Dr. D’Elisa is experienced in the diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities in addition to social/emotional disorders.
In her therapy practice, Dr. D’Elisa uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a research-based treatment for depression and anxiety disorders, and solution-focused therapy to help clients improve their mental health and overall ability to deal with life’s challenges. In addition, Dr. D’Elisa utilizes a positive psychology approach to help adolescents and adults identify their strengths and needs to make informed college choices and career path decisions.
Dr. D’Elisa is a 20-year resident of Fairfield county and is the parent of 5 children.
